Inclement Weather
Inclement Weather Response
Storms and other severe weather is always a possibility while out in the field. Our instructors are trained to prepare for, assess, and respond to potential hazardous weather conditions. In many instances where severe weather is indicated on a forecast for the region, its impact on exact locations can be variable or quickly passing.
In the event of a severe weather response which could impact drop-off or pickup instructions (timing and location), you can expect a message from the instructor or the NL Care Team.
Inclement Weather Inquires
To inquire about inclement weather and how it might affect a program that is currently in the field, we ask that you contact the NL Care Team, and not your child’s instructor (contact details below). By streamlining communication in this way, the instructor can fully focus on tending to the group and following inclement weather procedures.
Contact the NL Care Team (not the instructor) in the following order:
The NL Care Team will contact the instructor and provide you with a status update and, if necessary, any information regarding a change in pickup timing or location.

Additional Notes:
Although infrequent, there are instances when inclement weather might pose a safety concern to Natural Leaders programming. Inclement weather may include, but not be limited to lightning storms, excessive rain, hail, flash flooding, heat advisories, high winds, tornadoes, low temperatures, blizzards, etc.
NL staff is trained to observe weather forecasts in and out of the field and take appropriate preventative measures. This might result in altering pickup and drop off times and locations, and even rescheduling the program entirely.
When encountering inclement weather in the field, the instructor might decide to seek shelter in one of our designated emergency shelter locations. These shelters are typically permanent, enclosed structures in or around the field of operation, and they are insured by Natural Leaders.
If at any point the instructor needs to alter the pickup/dropoff timing or location, families will receive a text notification from the instructor or the Natural Leaders Care Team.
